The association
The United Nations Association Estonia was founded in 2020 in Tartu.
The United Nations Association Estonia, or shortly UNA Estonia, is a non-governmental, nonprofit organization (MTÜ), which supports and promotes civil society engagement with the United Nations (UN), and related issues, in Estonia. Thematically, our activities cover the entire range of topics the UN is concerned with, from long-standing issues such as security and disarmament, sustainable development, and human rights, to more recent issues such as migration, climate and environment.
Our work is for the benefit of Estonia and Estonian society. What drives us is the belief in the value of an active civil society for a stronger Estonia and a stronger UN. Towards this end, UNA Estonia aims to raise awareness of the UN and the entire range of topics the UN is concerned with in Estonia; to encourage engagement with the UN; to inform the Estonian public about the UN and related issues; to promote the goals and principles of the UN in Estonia; and, to make the voice of Estonia and Estonian civil society heard in the UN.
We are independent and non-partisan. In our work, we are guided solely by the values and principles enshrined in the UN Charter and confirmed in their universality by all UN member states.
Our mission
Our mission is to strengthen the visibility of the UN and related topics in Estonia – and to strengthen the voice and visibility of Estonia, and Estonian civil society, in the UN.
